To me the city is abnormal.

If you live in the city, when did you last here the sound of a bird's wings as it took flight, startled when you passed near the tree it was resting on?

When did you see the flight of ducks following the course of a river on their way South?

If you want to walk on concrete and have your eyes constantly distracted by a ton of useless plastic junk 'made in Taiwan', that will break half an hour after the packaging has been removed, then you would probably be bored by the country.

Country people often has greater inner resources to entertain themselves and find even the orange haze of a street lamp an insult to the beauty of the night.
