You can use series for both meanings in British English - For example , if you Google "Frost series 2" or "Midsomer Murders series 5" you'll see series being used in the second sense. But if you want to distinguish between them you van use "season" for the second meaning - and this seems to be most current in US English. Google for example "NCIS season 4" or "CSI season 3" |
