New IELTS website!!

Hello everyone,

I am an EFL teacher in Spain and I have recently set up a website to help students who are preparing to take the Academic IELTS exam.

It's designed as an independent learning resource to help candidates improve their writing skills.

Each user-friendly module has sample exam questions, a series of language exercises and a practice test with answers provided for instant feedback.

I invite you to take a look at www.successatielts.com

If you think it could be useful to students you know who are preparing to take the IELTS exam, please recommend it to them.

Best wishes,
Jenny

That's a nice looking website. Good luck with the rest of the modules.

Thankyou Mark. It's encouraging to hear positive feedback.

Actually, I have just posted a message on your forum although perhaps your site is intended mainly for YL Teachers so my site is probably not really applicable.

I have to say that my website is very slow in getting off the ground simply because people don't know we're there. It seems until you crack the Google code, it is virtually impossible to get noticed.

Do you have any tips for getting a good Google rating?

Jenny

Put your site in your signature and post advice, help, ideas and such on various forums, like here for example. When people read your good, advice, tips, etc. then they will likely click on your website to see what else you have to say.

Word will spread.

Creating link exchanges is another way to help get your name out there. Most sites aren't going to promote you for free. Try setting up a link page and putting some of your favorite sites on there, especially sites where you are going to be promoting (as webmasters generally will be more tollerant of self-promotion in that case.) Then hit up some sites to exchange links. Having back links to your site will be better for Google ranking as well.

For more info on stuff like that search "SEO site promotion" or just SEO (search engine optimazation - I think)

I agree with Mark: Post helpful and encouraging comment in forums and discussion groups, and people will discover your site. It takes a lot of time to build up repeat visitors, but it's rewarding to see numbers climb from week to week. Thank you e-mails are even better!

I'll also add that content is very important. You can spend a lot of time in forums, with SEO, etc., but if people don't find a lot of content, or a lot of useful content, they won't come back.

There is a good IELTS writing website at:

www.ieltshelper.com - YOUR IELTS WRITING TUTOR

See many IELTS writing questions, send in your answers, and get corrections and predicted IELTS scores from a qualified IELTS examiner.

The offer to evaluate student responses to several sample IELTS questions provides practical assistance to test takers. It's a nice addition.
