Hi,

Just want to say that I heard it earlier today and really enjoyed it. I know exactly how you feel with the girls students! Great job and hope that it goes well.

Thanks here, too.

Eric and I hope it really takes off. Eric does all the work.
So, it just a lot of fun for me.

If you have any advice on how we can make it better, we're all ears.

Hi Eric and Mark,

As many other ESL folks will agree, you are doing an excelllent job, ESL Teacker Talk is something unique that no other website is offering. That's why other ESL enthusiasts will support you. The biggest challenge with projects like yours is to build momentum to a critical point from where the venture will take off itself. So, what we can do is create a list of topics of interest that could be covered in upcoming shows. Also, you could invite guests onto your show, the entire thing could even develop into an ESL Internet Radio Channel.
As for potential interview topics, we/you could talk about ESL websites, how it all began with pioneers like Dave Sperling and what has become of them. How the internet is being used in ESL classrooms, the difference between ESL and EFL, the influence of US English vs. UK English on the ESL industry etc. There is an endless list of issues we can cover, we just have to collect all ideas and struture them.
What do you think?

Regards
Torsten

Another idea would be the main difference between teaching in Korean and teaching in Japan. A few people have done both and since Eric is in Korea and Mark is in Japan it might be an interesting topic. I think that it's interesting to get other's involved too but that could be a lot of work.

Wishing you guys all the best!

Thats a great idea. A list of show ideas would really save us some energy in thinking up a new topic every week. Plus its what you guys want to hear. Thanks for getting the ideas started! (BTW, welcome to the site!) we definitely want to start doing some interviews.

Good idea. I think we could have a show about korea, japan and china. comparing and contrasting these east asian countries.

Thanks guys!

Keep the ideas coming! It helps us out more than you know!

Eric
ps. this week's show is delayed because our server filled up. next episode will be available on monday (may 8).

Stanley - I do this show with Eric and we haven't stopped we're just on a short break. Eric has been on vacation in America and we thought we would still be able to continue the shows but we had some technical problems that couldn't be overcome. We should be back and have weekly shows posted starting in Sept.

Thanks for listening.

- Mark

Thanks for the kind words, DevonT!

We are taking Thanksgiving week off from the podcast but I'm sure we can talk about that in December. Thanks for the suggestion.

Wink Re: ESL Teacher Talk - An ESL Podcast

The idea of listing topics for discussion is great and I look forward to it. Sharing our experiences is a resource that beats any ESL text book in the world. I can't wait to read what you guys go through in those other cities. My case is a rare one: I feel like I am working at a cultural crossroads! I teach at a Korean International School located in Beijing. I am African and my colleagues are American, Canadian, British, Chinese and Korean. I tell you guys, it's something....it's the whole world in one office when we chat at break time.... when you hear comments like these: "We don't say that in the states..." "it's common to hear that in the UK." "In Korean the meaning is very different, that's why they say that in class.." "Well in Africa it has a negative meaning." etc etc.
Cheers!
Denis in Beijing.

Hey Denis,

I know what you mean. I used to work at a school with a Korean, 2 Canadians, 1 British guy and a South African (I'm American) and it was tons of fun. It was like little mini culture lessons at break time.

Thanks, Devon. I've only had experience with one returnee. however, I'd like to do a show about that, hopefully this year or early in Jan.
