Help with referee or umpire

Referee is used for football, baseball. Umpire for tennis
What other sports do you use the word "referee" and "umpire"
For hockey is it an umpire or a referee?
Thanks for your help

Re: Help with referee or umpire

Depends what sort of hockey you're talking about. If it's the grass variety, definitely umpire. I suspect Eric meant ice hockey ...

Re: Help with referee or umpire

All referee.
Umpire for - rowing, bowls, netball, softball, and Australian rules football, sailing. Referee for most other sports.
Re cricket - there are actually two umpires and a referee. if the umpires aren't sure of a decision they can ask the off-field referee to view a video replay and decide. Tennis tournaments also have a referee who can overrule an umpire's decision if necessary.
