One more grammar question Could someone please explain when exactly do we put 'to' in addition to 'in' and 'on' prepositions (into, onto) I have never really learned to tell the difference thanks in advance |
Re: One more grammar question I haven't either now you mention it! I think it's to do with the idea of movement eg The pen is in the bag - describes the static position of the pen He put the pen into the bag - describes the movement of the pen Does that sound right to anyone else? |
Re: One more grammar question Yeah, I believe it's when the motion is of importance, not the place. Compare: He went in the classroom. He went into the classroom. The first sentence seems to place importance on the final location, where the second seems more about the action. |
Re: One more grammar question yes, that sounds good. |
Re: One more grammar question make sure with that from following sentences. The pen is on the table. The pen is in the bag. --------- Check Grammar, Spelling or Style and Enhance It! English grammar software | English writing software |

Also you have two links listed there to the same site (a grammar check site, btw.) Any reason? |
Re: One more grammar question Yes without reason nothing happens. I just added links for who want a software help, they can access. |
Re: One more grammar question I'm still going to have to ask my original question Quote:
