What does "hot reload" mean?

A student asked me what this sentence meant, and I'm not sure.

“Hot reload all the remaining slog round from the stock and from your pocket …..Shooter will continue one line of rifle slugs in four seconds……”

I assume it means to reload while still shooting .... ??

I don't know what it means but I can only imagine/hope that the phrase came from a video game!

funny! Actually it's from a book about the Regan presidency. One of my students is translating it into Japanese. I think it was an excerpt from some secret service conversation. Not sure.

Ok ... maybe we'll just go with it means to reload while still shooting or while the safety is off. If anyone knows for sure, please let me know.

I tried Googling it but only found it in a computer context. Didn't understand it there either .... :(
