Using comics / books

Hello,

I would like to set up a little library for the kids ( and their parents!), do you have any suggestions?

I already have pretty nice books for tods, preschoolers and kindergarten including :
- Spot
- Whose tail?
-" talking " books
- DK pre-level 1 book

What would you suggest for older kids, say 8-10 years old? Is there a collection especially for ESL kids?
When I type on Amazon " comics " and then choose 4-8 years old, there are some Mickey and Donald Duck comics, do you think they are easy enough?

Thanks for your help.

If you can show videos, the ones by Eyewitness are excellent. You should watch one or two first, to see if they are appropriate for your students. Some of them are closed-captioned, which is even better!

Yes I guess I can find a way to show videos because I have a dvd player with a screen.
I have been looking for that "Eyewitness" collection and found on amazon many DVDS about nature, is that what you meant?

Amazon.co.uk: Ages 5-8 - Children's / eyewitness: DVD

The thing is, is it well adapted to children, and furthermore to ESL learners?

I have a couple of DVDs that I bought for my own children, including Spot ( good picture, great English easily understandable for kids up to 6 years old), Magic English ( for older kids), Baby Einstein ( some parts are useful because it has games, good for kids up to 5 years old) Little Pim.

I watched on youtube Charlie&Lola and liked it a lot but it's too hard for ESL kids.
When i used to be an au pair in the US, my kids liked a lot Franklin, Dragon Tales, Clifford the big red dog ( good one cause very short : 3-4 min)

Please keep on filling up this thread with the books and dvds you use!
