Is the price of Gas affecting your tutoring service?
 

Just wondering about this subject with those of us who travel by car to teach. :whistle:

Most of my students are 20 -25 miles from where I actually live so I've made a point of organizing my classes to avoid wasting time and gas. But now the latter is *really* becoming more important. Granted, my car gets good mileage, but the trip still costs me almost $10 RT. I have a feeling if I raise my per hour fee, I would lose some students. It's slow in the summer as it is with students going home.

I'm considering teaching from my home, but I know most students won't commute out this way. (I live in the "sticks".)

I've thought about renting a small space and doing more group classes. Just trying to brainstorm.

Anyone else in the same boat? Ideas?

I've been teaching English from my home for many years now. So the price of gas hasn't affected my tutoring service. But I'm planning to move to the countryside soon and most of my students would like to continue learning with me so I'm planning on teaching through the internet. I've talked about that with them and they sound enthusiastic. they just have to get a webcam and that's it! I will provide grammar exercises, role plays I just hope the connection is OK for talking together.I tried with a friend of mine and it worked perfectly.
I have one to one lesson so I think the internet is the right tool for me. Maybe you could think about teaching though the internet as well.
