Default Returning to work after drinking ?

I travel to korea about every 2 weeks to work in seoul. Often i go out with the koreans. Some of thoes on the project return to work after having 2-3 drinks soji.

Is this normal. In the UK or US this would be very badly thought off. I would be sacked..

is this ok in korea?

I don't think this flies in the US. Not unless your job is wining and dining clients, etc...

I would always see Korean businessmen splitting a bottle of Soju at lunch. I think this is pretty normal. For the most part, it's just a shot or 2 each. I never saw anyone get hammered at lunch. Dinner on the other hand....

That being said, I NEVER saw any teachers drinking at lunch. I think this would be frowned upon in Korea.

In Italy it's common to have an aperitif before lunch and a glass or wine or two with it. However, there is also the siesta so any effects from the alcohol will be slept off before going back to work.

As for teaching after a drink, I personally don't do it because I'd just want to sleep in the corner. However, a drink after lessons I thoroughly recommend!

Your smiley has got me craving Guinness. Can't get a decent drop of it here for love nor money. Next time use a red wine smiley if you have one ! :-)

Oh God I was so lucky this time. There is Guinness at the supermarket closest to my apartment. Although I must say the taste of Chinese guinness is quite different from that which i grew up with.
