Where is the best country your have taught?
 

Mine was Thailand teaching poor Thai kids in goverment schools. It was so rewarding seeing them learn.

Where else have you taught? Can you compare some?

I have only taught English in Korea so I don't have anything else to compare it with. The kids in the public schools seem a lot better than the kids in the private schools. The private school kids are generally so tired after studying all day and I couldn't blame them. It's so rewarding when I can see them try so hard and push themselves without me having to give them some sort of extrinstic reward (chocolate, candy, snacks...etc).

I, like LiK, have only taught in Korea. It is very nice with the food and the alcohol. Alcohol is so cheap but you have to watch out for their vodka like rice drink, soju, which is pretty nasty after a few bottles. But I love their Makoli, a similar rice wine drink which goes well with chips or some snack.

The school kids I teach are pretty motivated and have such funny sense of humour. They are also keen to learn but I have to reward them with a DVD now and then or listening to some music. I would like to teach in France. I lived in France for four months but I am quite happy where I am, plus I would like to conquer Korean language first before moving elsewhere. I am sure if I moved to France, I would be able to communicate in French in two years but I would like to try a very very difficult language first.

My goal is to get my masters in TEFL and after that go and live in Europe. No idea where exactly yet. We went on out homemoon to Austria and Switzerland. Vienna was brillant but I have no idea about the job market there. I also wouldn't mind France too as I'm sure I could pick it up in a year (studied it in school). Decisions, desicions! Being an EU citizen certainly has it's advantages :)

My best and worst was probably Finland. Worst because, at this time of year, living without daylight has a very weird effect on your brain. Not to be recommended to anyone already prone to depression. And best because in June everyone is just high on light for the whole of the early summer. Bonfire barbecues by the lake at 2am and confused little birds starting their dusk chorus as the sun hovers vaguely near the horizon and then turning it into the dawn chorus as it goes straight up again. But I didn't go back for a second year - I couldn't face the thought of another winter.

Having only ever taught China... I really enjoyed it there... lot's of things to do, cheap beer and good times were had by all! What more can you ask for?

I have taught in Japan, in Washington D.C. to immigrants at a private English school and am now teaching Japanese and Mexican students in Mexico.

My favorite has been teaching in DC, mostly adults and mixed culture classes. The school that I taught for was awful, but I enjoyed almost every class.

I almost forgot that I have volunteered in India and Nepal as well. I love both places, but still enjoyed teaching multicultural adult classes the most.
