| | Greetings
Hi! My Name is Linda and I live in Calgary Alberta which is in Canada. I am taking TESOL courses at the moment and I'm looking to teach ESL courses later on. My primary interest is in social work with a christain emphasis. I eventually would like to travel teach and councel.
My background is mainly in sociology and psychology, however I have done a fair amount of volunteer teaching and preschool teaching. I absolutely love children and I enjoy many different types of social conversations.
My passion is music. Currently I am trying to learn an intrument called a tin whistle. This is an Irish intrument and the music it makes is incredibly beautiful. I am also an amateur artist. I enjoy being creative. Pencil drawing seems to be my favourite activity. I am also dabbling in wood carving. It is wonderful to create something even if you are not quite sure what it is.
My very special place in the whole world - my whole world - is the west coast of British Columbia. Not only do the mountains meet the ocean, the scenery is undescribably beautiful and peaceful. I have lost my heart and soul to this part of Canada.
Finally, the best part of my life is spending time learning about new things places and people. I am looking forward to learning many many new things about ESL life.
Take care Linda |

There are quite a few schools in Korea where you can work in a mostly Christian environment, if you are interested in working in Asia.

| | Re: Greetings Thank-you for welcoming me to the forum. My plans are to get certification that allows me to teach ESL courses in a variety of environments. In addition to this I will be continuing my studies in councelling and therapy with a christain emphasis. I am hoping to teach abroad for a while. I would like to encorporate Christainity and councelling into whatever program I am involved in. My goal is to help to empower other people to be confident in their abilities to succeed so they will be able to grow by learning how to open doors which were closed to them before.
Hope to hear from you again

I live on the west coast near Vancouver and yes it has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. The first snow has just fallen on the mountains. There are lots of ESL schools here in Vancouver with many international students coming to B.C. to learn English.
Good Luck

I am so sorry about the time delay in returning your greeting's message. Thank-you for welcoming me to the forum! When I visit B.C., all my worries evaporate because the scenery is so beautiful and peaceful. I find I am able just to sit quietly and look at all that nature has to offer. The ocean and mountains have a great calming effect on me. It's like you can loose your cares in the vast beauty of the different landscapes. I am still working toward my certificate in ESL and I find wherever I go I learn so much about other people and their cultures. I too love children.
My favorite activities I do with children are singing story-telling and student directed art. I find the children and their families are so earger to learn the english language and to be able to communicate effectively with you. I also understand the joy you feel when you play and teach with children. In closing I would like to thank-you for all your very informative imput that you have posted on the forums. I find this information has been extremely helpful.
Take care
Hope to hear from you again

When I want to feel really calm and peaceful, I take a horse and head for the remotest and most beautiful part of the country I can find. It's there that I find meaning - God in your terms. Yet my husband is quite different. He heads for a city and looks at a building, or at a work of art -things that I find meaningless - and sees the ultimate in creation.

You are fortunate to be in Milan. I have never been to Italy and would love to visit there.
My dad was in Milan during the war and loved the city, not the circumstances. He always told me how he loved the Italian language, so alive and expressive.
I hope to visit next spring. I want to travel this year as I am on a sebatical from school!

I completely understand how you find peace. It seems that nature and animals soothe the spirit within us. No matter where you are from and what language you speak nature and animals understand what you need and provide unconditional acceptance of you in their world. I think this is why many of us feel accepted by animals and nature. There is a sense of belonging one feels when you are in their presence. Keep riding as much as you can. I ride too and I know the joy you experience when you your horse and nature meet and spend time together.
Take care
