Default Distinction Idea

Here is an idea I was working on the other day in school. You give each student a sheet and say one word on each line that the students have to listen to and circle which one they think that they hear. You don't have to you real words only sounds that are similar. It's basically a listening test for your students.

In this case I have chosen r and l, simply because in Korea it creates such huge problems as Koreans don't have that sound. They have the "ㄹ" sound which is in between r and l so it's really confusing for students of all ages.

Let me know what you think?

Distinction between r and l

Circle the word on each line that you hear.

1. limb rim

2. lot rot

3. lick Rick

4. free flee

5. raw law

6. climb crime

7. leer real

8. real really

9. light right

10. berry belly

11. jelly jerry

12. spoor spool

13. free flee

14. rice lice

15. royal loyal

Looking forward to your comments.
