| | What flash cards do you want? I am going to be uploading 100's of flash cards over the next few weeks/months. So I am taking requests!
What flash cards would you like to see or see more of?
What kind of flash cards are you unable to find on the web? This is your chance! Please tell me what you need and I will get them!

| | Re: What flash cards do you want? Here go some suggestions:
a) places in a town
b) different kinds of shops
c) more food (all kinds with nicer colour pictures)
d) weather
e) parts of the body
f) description pictures (curly etc)
g) more exhaustive pictures of rooms and furniture
h) more clothes
i) the country (landscape and features)
j) topic based: the beach, holidays, winter, etc.
k) typical signs in English
l) prepositions of place
m) prepositions of movement
n) computers
etc. (otherwise it's difficult to make a 35-square game board!)
Thanks!
I was wondering - I've got some images, but I guess they're copyright and therefore not suitable to upload. Isn't there a way we could insert our own images or connect to some source of free picture bank?
Thanks a lot!

| | Re: What flash cards do you want? Awesome! Thanks for the list.
I want to let users upload their own images but I haven't figured out the best way so copyright laws aren't broken. Also, if images aren't a particular size, worksheets could be broken. If i can figure those 2 things out then users will be able to use their own images as well.
thanks cristina! |

| | Re: What flash cards do you want? Hi, Eric. I see you've been working hard and my list to Santa is almost accomplished.
Here go some other suggestions:
- housework
- 'have just done' action flashcards
- comparatives and superlatives
- more imperatives and instructions
- materials
- 'going to' pictures
- adverbs
- emergencies, catastrophes, environment
- subjects and school vocabulary (places, people, etc)
- in 'actions': detailed daily routine verbs
- the menus are OK , but you could have pictures of meals (with different dishes, etc)
- advice
- places to go out
- signs to practise modal verbs
- shop signs or advertisements (for 'buying' role plays - food, stationery, clothes, tickets, etc - with prices)
I hope this is useful - it certainly would be for me.
Best regards - Great site! |

| | Re: What flash cards do you want? Hi Eric,
A list of places to go out could be:
go to the cinema, go on a picnic, see a football match, go to the beach, go clubbing, go to the theatre, go to the circus/the zoo, go jogging in the park, go to a concert, eat in a restaurant, play tennis, go shopping, go on a trip, go riding/skiing, go for a walk in the park, listen to music , go to an amusement park, meet your friends, go to a party....... etc.
As for getting the images from clipart: I have done so for certain topics, but doing it individually is terribly time-consuming. Besides, they aren't designed from a linguistic point of view - It would be hard to get a set to visualize 'have just done' or 'is going to do' in the same way language books do.
Anyway, it was just a suggestion - I did not want to bother anyone. I also think more variety would increase the options of worksheets - which did happen last time!
Thanks! |

| | Re: What flash cards do you want? everything is copyright in one way or another.
any unique creation is concidered copyright with or without the copyright mark. there is no need to register the work with any body or organization. a unique creation is concidered copyright under law at the time of creation. So if you've made a work sheetthat is of your own, you hold the copyright. If you make a worksheets from eslHQ.com it is copyrighted in one way or another, but you can be certain that it's not yours. Legally I think it's Eric's but yours to use. Enough about copyright law...
I believe under MS end user license agreement you're free to use those copyrighted images for your own personal use. You're free to download them and use them in your worksheets. |

| | Re: What flash cards do you want? Heavens, I couldn't care less about the worksheets copyright - I'm just using them in my classes. If they are Eric's, well, it's only fair after the trouble of making the flashcards and having the website.
I think all this copyright talk came from discussing the convenience or not of using clipart instead of adding to the flashcards on the site. |

Thanks! |
