elective class ideas?

Hello all,

I teach an elective class of 3rd year Junior High students. I teach at a Japanese school in Mexico City, which is to say that most of the students in this particular class speak Japanese and Spanish fluently. Two students speak English fluently and 5others understand it, but do not speak as well. The remaining 2students do not understand nor speak English. The class is 9 students all together.

Originally, the objective of this class was to help the students prepare for exams and interviews in order to get into an English speaking high school (for example, the American School here). Now that the application processes are over, I am trying to come up with other, productive activities. I have run out of ideas...if you have any ideas, please help!

Try doing larger projects like:

a radio show
invent a new product and create an advertisement for it
teach cooking terms, write recipes and then make food
etc...

these activities are a lot of fun plus they practice very useful language and can take 2-5 class days to finish.

Do a current affairs elective. Discuss stuff from the news and broaden their horizons. It should be very suitable for that age range
