How can I help my kid at home?

Since I'm teaching little ones, I get this a lot. I generally encourage them to have fun with it, play games, but keep it light, and not to push it on them. I send home songs we sing and give our vocabulary but remind them it's NOT homework. Personally, I salute those who want to help at home, even if their English is not perfect. The best thing is to pass on some excitement about English.

What do you suggest to the eager parents? Do you ever discourage home involvement? Thanks for sharing.

I suggest that they use the British Council's site for kids. Not only does it have lots of fun activities that they can do with the kids online - games, songs, stories, print outs - it also has an extensive section for parents, giving them ideas for things they can do, stuff to download etc. The only trouble is, if you suggest it to the parents, you can't use it with the kids yourself ....
