How to teach dates of the month

Hi there,

I am teaching a class of secondary school, the first year next year.

What can I do I introduce ordinal numbers in saying the dates of the month?

Thank you,

Imul

It's a topic that looks easy from the beginning but later becomes very confusing to students especially when you use the wrong approach.
This simple song helped me a lot:

I am number 1, I am first,
I am number 2, I am second,
I am number 3, I am third,
Etc.

This song should take you through all your students. If you get to 15 - 20, that will work well for you.

Beware of this confusion in writing the date especially if you are in Asia.

2007, September 1st.
2007. 1st September.
September 1st, 2007.
1st September 2007.
My students had it very tough getting it here in addition to where to insert the days (Monday, Tuesday, ....).

Good luck.

A good follow-up game is to throw a beach ball around. Every time a st gets the ball they must say what position they are in (first, second, third etc).
