Teaching suggestions for Spanish 5 yr olds

Hi,

I am new to the 'Teaching scene' and have no qualifications to teach. However, I have just found myself a job teaching young children (5 yr olds) the English language over here in Spain.

My question is, what sort of things am I best teaching these children at such a young age? These children are having after school lessons with me for one hour, twice a week. Does anybody have any kind suggestions, as I do not want to be teaching the children something that is too difficult for their age group.

Thank you, :)

Five year old would really benefit from singing and singing games. You can find lots at this link
http://www.pamseslclassroom.com
and
http://www.pamseslclassroom.com/Free_ESL_Music.html

There are finger rhymes too
http://www.pamseslclassroom.com/Finger_Rhymes.html

You can listen to the songs and chants and also print out the lyrics for yourself

Hope this helps.
singing games are especially great as they bond the group and help with social skills, taking turns, cooperating etc.

This may be a little late, but don't forget basic skills along with the music. Students need a good grasp of phonemic awareness and vocabulary to build their language.

The links to songs were great and something I needed in my classroom!
