Compelling Conversations Review: "This outstanding resource allows teachers to confidently walk into an advanced ESL classroom with self-contained, engaging conversation lessons. The 45 thematic chapters allow you to both evoke student experience with long lists of practical and savvy questions. The inclusion of global proverbs and classic quotations also provides larger cultural contexts to inspire deeper conversations - or writing assignments. Students should also appreciate the generous amount of authentic language. I wish I would have had that book in my old adult/university classes. A great book for adult education teachers, university instructors, and private tutors!"
Ready-To-Use Esl Activities for Every Month of the School Year Review: "I am an ESL teacher. The district I work in supplied us with this book. It is an excellent book full of useful ideas. My students find the book a great help. I use the stories to teach them new vocabulary, help them with their prounciation and allow to enjoy themselves while learning. Great book! I encourage everyone to check it out!"
How to Teach English Review: "This is IT! The best introductory text you can buy on the subject of teaching English as a Second Language. Seems like everybody and their brother are writing ESL books these days, so do yourself a favor and start with one by an extremely knowledgeable author. Mr. Harmer makes the basics of teaching ESL sound easy and more importantly FUN. Enjoy it..."
Five-Minute Activities : A Resource Book of Short Activities (Cambridge Handbooks for Language Teachers) Review: "I bought this book a few years ago on a trip to Hong Kong, and it has greatly improved my teaching. This is a book of short activities that can be used to open or close a class, or to provide a little variety. The range of ideas is great. I have found students very responsive to the activities in this book, and would recommend it to any teacher who is having experiencing boredom or frustration with their classes."
Keep Talking : Communicative Fluency Activities for Language Teaching (Cambridge Handbooks for Language Teachers) Review: "As an ESL teacher in China for the past 12 years, I have found this book a great help and, at times, a life-saver. "Keep Talking" is one of the best sources of English language games and activities for the ESL classroom. Logically arranged and with clear instructions on how to use, lanaguage level, time needed and aim of the activity, this book is a must for all ESL teachers, but especially for those teaching for a year or two overseas without strong formal ESL training. You won't be disappointed."
Grammar Practice Activities: A Practical Guide for Teachers Review: "Imaginative, interesting, engaging and well organized this book is one of the most valuable resources I have seen in nearly three years of full time ESL teaching. The book is divided into two parts.Part One provides a clear and concise introduction to grammar teaching in the foreign language classroom, a very useful guide to designing and presenting grammar-practice activities and some tips for getting the most out of coursebook exercises. The heart of the book, however, is Part Two which consists of nearly 200 game-like grammar practice activities. The activities are grouped into sections according to grammatical categories...."
Fifty Strategies for Teaching English Language Learners Review: "Over and over, I've looked for a book which focuses on practice rather than just theory. This book is just what I've been looking for! Each strategy is presented with a brief summary of the research behind it, practical methods to apply it to any classroom at any grade level, and examples of the strategy at work in two different classrooms. As an ESL teacher, I plan to use this book as a valuable resource throughout the school year. Don't be fooled by the title, though: these strategies will help all your students, not just English language learners. Teachers and tutors will enjoy using these ideas with their students."
Authentic Assessment for English Language Learners Review: "This book is incredibly helpful for ESL / TESL / ESOL / TESOL teachers and home schoolers as well. It was a textbook in a required Assessment course, but it is so helpful and practical that it will be very useful even if you're not taking a formal course. It presents detailed advice and examples for portfolio assessment, as well as the largest assortment of rubrics that I have seen anywhere. When you use Authentic Assessment to balance your Standardized Tests, you get a more balanced picture of the student's strengths and weaknesses, so you can tailor your instruction to the need."
Easy & Engaging ESL Activities and Mini-Books Review: "I recently taught ESL in China for a few weeks and found this book incredibly useful. Although marketed as being for grades 1-4, I found this book helpful for even high school students--it depends more on the level of language proficiency than anything else. For example, I used the "parts of the body" page to review what my students already knew, and then they filled in more complicated words such as thigh, shoulder, ankle, etc. The money page has very realistic drawings of the various coins, all of which were new to my students. The food pages were very helpful before moving on to more complicated lessons on ordering in a restaurant. A great book for a modest price!"
Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language Review: "This is a truly splendid book! I am an experienced ESL teacher, and I wish someone had passed this book along to me when I was beginning in the field. The main areas of the book--teaching methodology, language skills, integrated approaches, focusing on the learner, and skills for teachers--are daily issues for ESL teachers. The fact that the book is an anthology is also very good, as it provides a variety of perspectives. I found the earliest entries--dealing with the history of the field--superb. Similarly, I found the sections on the different levels/situations in which ESL is taught also very useful. Well worth what I paid for it."
More Grammar Games : Cognitive, Affective and Movement Activities for EFL Students Review: "One of the easiest books I have seen for teacher use. The activities require little preparation and materials. Students become actively involed with various aspects of the English Language. I can find activities for all levels and age groups."

Alphabet: Flash Cards (Pack of 54) Review: "There's not much to review about flashcards, but I got these ones for my son and taught him all of his letters before he turned 3 using some of the ideas that came with them. He's now 4 and we're using them to learn spelling and letter sounds. They were the only ones available when I was looking for flashcards and I've been very happy with them overall. In fact, I'm here to replace my very worn-out ones."
Phonics: Flash Cards (Pack of 12) Review: "The images on the cards are very appealing to children and offer a clue when they are beginning to learn the sounds. I have a set of similar flashcards made by another brand and my daughter was very bored with them quickly. I had no problem getting her to work with these and after a few times through the deck she had the majority of the consonant sounds memorized. Within a few days she knew them all and I added on the vowels. This deck also offers cards with blends e.g. sh, wh, sw. This is an excellent way to get your child started on the path to reading."
