Try starting out with a lot of TPR (total physical response). Do a Google search if you haven't used TPR before. Use verbs and prepositions in your lesson, and don't be afraid to make it fun and silly. For example, when you give them directions, tell them to stand on a chair; then to stand on the ceiling. They will laugh if they have understood. This may help them loosen up a bit, which can lead to them feeling more comfortable with their conversations. Also, don't correct them when they are conversing. Grammar and pronunciation should be taught separately. Best luck to you. Hope this helps.
