Ah, similar to "YuChiWon" in Korean...

Anyway, one thing I have done with this age level is to get a big book. Big as in the book is over-sized with large pictures and easy to see from a short distance.

I will first read the story to them and animate any actions that will help them understand what's going on as well as point to the characters in the book.

Then I'll read it again but this time after I read the page, I will call on the students to come up and point to the "dog" or the "tree" or whatever they might be able to guess.

To extend that you could also get them to repeat the word in English but that might be a little much for the wee little ones.
