Thank you for the help kisito. How would you go about teaching this to a class of Intermediate students? The students were as puzzled as I was when we got down to the grammar. They knew the message but couldn't get their heads around when to use a gerund or not. If you know of any activity that gets really helps explain the usage of this form, that would be really appreciated.
