Default recall, remember, remind

what's difference between these three: recall, remember, remind

(my student comes with about 20 questions every week. I just post the hardest. )

-remind and remember: "reminding" somebody means "making somebody remember". The action of "reminding" is not on the subject that speaks, but on something else. Example: I wrap my finger with a red ribbon, to remind me of something I have to do later. That ribbon would be a "reminder". That ribbon makes me remember or something. The action is carried out by the ribbon, not by myself. I remember. The ribbon reminds me of something else.


Remember is having something in your memory, although you may not be able to recall it voluntarily. For example, we know, and remember many, many thousands of words, but if we were to try to sit down and make a list of all of them, we would only be able to recall a few of them.
