Default Re: english with gross motor skills

Hi Kelly I teach 5-11yr olds.On Reunion Island. With very young kids I use a lot of mime in class and a favourite routine at the start of class is a pretend trip to the UK.
At first I tell the story and the kids copy the mimes then They listen and provide the appropriate mime .Finally they are able to tell the story while miming it.

We take a bus to the airport(mime driving) get in the plan, fasten seatbelts, listen to music(hands over ears+head bobbing) eat and drink, yawn ,fall asleep, wake up stretch arrive in france then choose how to travel to Britain.Train/tunnel ,boat or another plan.Sometimes if I'm stuck for time we return by space rocket doing a 3,2,1 blast off!
This ritual has worked really well and can be exploited further to teach the weather in the Uk
introduce cultural themeswhat's happening today in England?
hope this helps.
