Question Help with 6 to 8 years old

Hi!!!
I play games with french children to help them speak english .. and I am out of ideas! I know there are many suggestions on this site.. but I think I tried most of them!!
I'm looking for some easy stuff kids can do (play because it isn't a class, it's an after-school activity) and that is also something quick to prepare...lack of time with my other job and my studies. But I don't want the activities to lack in quality just because I don't have much time to prepare them!
The children are beginners.. so some basic stuff would be great, like the weather, numbers, letters, small words, easy themes.... Anyone has ANY idea whatever it is??
Thanks in advance!!!!

I am in a similar position to you as I teach at an after school club in Austria (kids aged 8 to 10) where the children only speak english ie no written english and I find that this limits the activities available. I have only recently started doing this but from my experience so far the following were the most well received:

- balloon pop game - in teams if you answer question right you get to pop one of the other teams balloons (I used this to teach opposites)

- memory game. I my house there is a fridge , next person has to remember this and add one of their own

- throw the ball at the right picture on the blackboard

- pick clothes out of a bag and say "I am wearing...." Hilarious when boys picked out necklace etc.

If you have any tips on what has worked for you then I'd be interested to hear.

Have a look at www.talkingdice.co.uk
I've bought 3 sets ( weather, clothes and body parts) and they are great.
