In Japan it's March (jobs start in April) and there's a small rush in July (some jobs start in Auguast.) However, people quit and things happen so there's always this and that floating around.

It seems as though schools are looking for teachers year round, though. I've seen it first-hand. A school gets a new teacher and they find out that the teacher either doesn't teach well, or isn't very reliable. So in this case, they'll need to replace that weak teacher right away. I should point out that it's not always the teachers. Sometimes the teaching environment is no good, or the co-workers are not easy to get along with. In this case, the school still needs to replace that teacher and then finds themselves with a high turnover of teachers, and needing them all the time.

The english conversation schools are always hiring here in Japan. For the reasons above and because some teachers disappear overnight. Seriously!
