Default Need Some Advice!

Hi everyone , I've just started teaching private lessons and I have a complete beginner the first lesson we spent learning how to introduce yourself basic greetings and colours and fruits as I think that its good to learn them together. However I dont really know where to go from here I've thought about basic foods and buying food from a shop, or body parts and visiting the doctors, but I dont know whether I'm moving too quickly! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jo

You see those websites on the right-hand side of the screen? Those are websites owned by posters on this forum. Some of them are bound to answer your questions...and then some

If you still can't find anything, I'm sure some of us can get that creative side workin'.

Hi Jo,
Do you have access to any beginner English books (Oxford New Headway Starter or Longman Pearson Total English Starter for example). If you look at how the books are set out it can give you an idea. For example, you can start with the present simple of "be" (I'm French, I'm 28 etc and work through "you, he, she" by making name tags and pretending to be different characters. If you add "I like" then you can include food, sport, reading and other freetime activities. This gives practise in introducing yourself and another person if you like. In my experience you should do as much repition as you can until you're sure your student has "got it". Obviously you have to change what you do and how you do it so it's not too boring. Have a look at Bogglesworld.com. They also have some good lesson plans. Good luck,
Margie

Hi Marmaris Girl (Is that Marmaris in Turkey btw? I used to live near there)

You didn't mention whether the student is a kid or an adult, general English or Business English?

If they are adult, you can give them a lot of input into what they want to learn.
