Re: Song Activity to Teach Comparatives

The activity seems good. I would have the students listen and try to write the words on their own first, maybe listening twice. Then, I would write the words on the board for them to try fill in any...

Re: Compared to and compared with

I was running some examples through my head (a completely trustworthy and scientific method :P) and what I find is that I tend to use "compare to" when I'm showing contrast and "compare with" when I...

Re: Get your foot in the door

It might be used in relationships.

"I know Sarah and I would make an awesome couple ... if I could just get a foot in the door ..."

Can anyone else think of other uses?

"If I could just get a foot in the door, they would see that I'm perfect for this job."

"My sister's recommendation helped me...

Re: How do you get the students THINKING in English?

Tough question. I think it's just important to tell them they should be trying to think in English and not constantly translating. But it's hard. I'm pretty fluent in Japanese and when I come...

Also, I assume they have texts of some sort. ...

Re: Games to teach the difference between past simple and present perfect tense?

In the Get Four game (http://www.mes-english.com/games/getfour.php) the formation of the sentence doesn't affect game play. Students play the game and in addition to that make sentences at the end...
