I saw a quote from an architect (here (http://www.beijingnewspeak.com/2007/06/12/thousand-cities-one-face-the-third-round-of-havoc/)) talking about architecture, but I think it applies to education,...

The suggestion to join local organizations is good, but I believe Denis is in China, like me, where there isn't one. As far as I have found, there isn't a Chinese equivalent to JALT or KOTESOL. ...

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but it seems very strange to me to test speaking ability if you're not giving them opportunities to speak during the two month course. Krashen or not, tests...

My 2 cents:
I could very well spend my life living overseas (meaning not in America) but there is no way I'm going to spend it in China (where I'm currently living). I am no great fan of China. ...

Unsurprisingly, I agree with Sue. I would call "the red one" the subject. There is no way that I could explain it nearly as well as she, though!

Sometimes, when I tell a student to stop talking on their cellphone, they nod and then simply lower their head (without ending the conversation). Many of the students seem genuinely surprised (dare...

Mark's post about fireflies and lightning bugs has got me thinking - do any American's use "shall"? I almost never do. I think I would only use it in mock formality (as in "shall we?"). Opinions?

I'm an American, from Boston originally, but also St. Louis. I say firefly, but folks in St. Louis *might* say lightning bug.
