Middle School Science (Physical Science) Teachers Wanted in Taipei, Taiwan

TEACHER REQUIREMENTS:
■ Elementary school teachers need to have a government-issued teaching certificate in his/her home country in elementary education and be able to teach all subjects.
■ Secondary school teachers need to have a government-issued teaching certificate in his/her home country in the subject to be taught. Teachers with dual majors in two secondary subjects or a major with strong minor are highly preferred. TESOL or TEFOL certificates are NOT applicable
■ At least one year of successful full-time experience at an accredited elementary or secondary school is preferred.

THE SCHOOL OFFER:
■ 11-MONTH CONTRACT starting from August 1st (OR later starting date with the first month salary paid differently) to June 30th of the following year. Should the teacher renew the contract, the salary for July will be provided.

■ MONTHLY SALARY is commensurate to teacher's educational background and teaching experiences. For the 1st year teacher, salary starts from TWD 60890 – Bachelor's degree ; TWD 67, 925 – Master's degree; Additional TWD 10,000 bonus/monthly provided by school. There is approximately 3% annual salary increase.

■ PERFORMANCE INCENTIVES : This will be provided by school to the teacher that renew the contract on the basis of evaluation.

■ FULLY-FURNISHED APARTMENTS provided by school. The teacher will pay the utility fees for electricity, water, gas, internet access & apartment management every month.

■ NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE: All teachers are required to join this national health insurance program and pay a portion of the insurance.

■ ROUND -TRIP TICKET for the 1st year teacher of school – TWD55,000.

■ 1-2 WEEKS VACATION during Chinese New Year (late January to early February), depending on the real schedule.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
■ Teachers will work from Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, with an 1-hour lunch break (12:00pm to 1:00pm).
■ The maximum teaching hours is 22 teaching periods per week. (Each teaching period is 40 to 45 minutes.) About 20 periods of preparation time per week.
■ Teachers will assist in any subject-related activities at school or major school events, during weekdays and/or weekends (about 1 or 2 times per semester).
■ Teachers will assist in preparation for any English-related materials, such as listening testrecordings, Story Time at English Library, etc.

SCHOOL INFORMATION:
■ School is a K-12 school with two academic systems. One is the Taiwan curriculum system, and the other is a Taiwan/American curriculum system.
■ In the Taiwan curriculum system, we offer government-approved English curriculum, mainly taught by Chinese English teachers. Foreign teachers tell stories, teach phonics in Elementary school (K-G4), and teach interest group classes (somehow like elective classes) from G5-G11.
■ In the bilingual curriculum system, we teach Chinese and math according to Taiwan government-approved curriculum, while English, social Studies and science follow California curriculum standards.
■ Class size, what foreign teachers teach: (no Chinese teachers co-teach)

Grades 5 – 11 22 – 28 students/class Class topics are according to
(interest groups) teacher's individual interest.We have topics such as novel, drama, music, movies, mythology, traveling, sci-fi, etc.

Bilingual 7 – 12 25-45 students Honors/Regular English Social Studies ( World Geography, AP/Honors/Regular World History, AP /Honors/ Regular US History, US Government, AP Psycology, AP Economics) Science (Life Science, Physical Science, AP/Regular Biology, AP/Honors/Regular Chemistry, AP/Honors/Regular Physics, Environmental Science)
