Hello Gang!

Do you consider personal trainers to be teachers? I asked a few of my fellow trainers and they don't think so. I told them I think we are. One thing, for certain, personal trainers (teachers) can be sued if they provide unhealthy advice (training) to their clients. Can you imagine if someone sue me for losing fat? Have you ever heard of a case like that? Let me know.

Hi, personal trainers are teachers. Most of us are all teachers if we teach something to another, it doesn't matter what it is (English, fitness, Taekwondo, Chess, how to use the T.V.) everybody is a teacher to somebody else!!

Thanks for replying, LivingInKorea. I should incorporating a "T.V" remote control exercise in one of my next session. No offense to my obese clients.

Too funny, and I love the comment that everyone is a teacher. Teaching is definitely about communicating, and it could be wisdom, a life style, information and a way of thinking about things. Not just the conventional 'teacher' in the schoolroom

Welcome aboard to the forums. I guess obesity is an international crisis really. I remember when I joined up the RAF and there were some people during the boot camp that were really lazy and couldn't run a mile without walking it. Well they eventually were told to leave. Got through the most difficult fitness period of my life whilst in the RAF and loved cross country running.

Unfortunately, I left the RAF and left fitness many years ago and it is difficult to get back into it after some years away from exercise. I wish I carried on with my exercise 'cos it made me feel great being able to run 5 miles without any problems. I haven't put much weight on but I can't really run those 5 miles like I used to. Maybe my early New Year's resolution!

Anyhow, welcome aboard to the forums and hope there are some ideas to motivate obese learners to exercise in the forums.
