Hi

I would like to suggest if it's possible for the forum to have a segment solely focused on Assessment and Testing. I think it will be helpful especially for those who are looking for specific information on Oral assessment and student Level assessment.

Thank you very much, this site has given me many ideas and useful suggestions.

I agree wholeheartedly. With regard to adults, it is important to determine the reason for learning English to guide in the activities.
For instance, adults coming to class to learn how to order in a restaurant are different than those needing to learn grammatical rules for another form of test. Any ideas anyone?

I think I just answered my own question. In a TESL certification course I took from the University of Saskatchewan, I found out about the Canadian Language Benchmarks for which much research was done. It really is quite comprehensive and full of practical ideas. Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks | Centre des niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens

They have an online test to test proficiency levels:
CLB-OSA

hope it is helpful
