Default Teaching in Central/South America

Colin asked this question in another forum but it didn't get answered so i thought i'd ask again in a new thread.

Do you need Spanish skills to teach English in Central and South America?

I've been toying with the idea of Costa Rica lately but I haven't studied Spanish for 8 years.

Also, if anyone has ANY info about Costa Rica (job availability, cost of living, places to live, etc...) please PM me.

Gracias!
Enrique
